I was invited to take part in a project by the Ajudaris Foundation – Associação de Solidariedade Social from Portugal. It’s an initiative where children write stories, and illustrators from all over the world create illustrations for them.
It’s a unique experience—an illustration becomes a visual extension of a child’s imagination.
Below is my illustration for the story:
“Once upon a time, there lived an elephant named Branquinho who played with a polka-dotted ball. The elephant lived in the jungle. He drank water, ate mangoes, and pooped. His home was very special—it was a shoe. He slept upstairs, but the house also had an attic where Branquinho kept things he didn’t need for the time being.
He had to travel to every country and leave behind things he no longer needed, such as umbrellas and boxes full of peace, love, tenderness, magical hugs, and lots of kisses. There were many conflicts happening in the world, and Branquinho had to end them in order to save it.
To do this, the elephant used his superhero cape and his powers—wind, fire, water, and lasers. But when Branquinho was spreading love all over the world, a flying dragon appeared and breathed fire. Branquinho used the power of water, but he couldn’t control the dragon’s fire, so he decided to ask for help from a fairy named Clou.
She was beautiful, with brown hair and colorful wings. She held a wand with a yellow star at the tip and wore new shoes.
Clou cast a spell on the dragon, and the dragon fell to the ground and fainted. When it fell, it damaged its wings and could never fly again. Now, without the dragon to interfere, the elephant managed to save the world, and everything was at peace.
And they lived happily ever after. And a sprinkle of magical dust brought this story to THE END.Once upon a time, there lived an elephant named Branquinho who played with a polka-dotted ball.
